Artsy, inexpensive room ideas?

Love the stuff at Anthroplogy and the look of Urban Outfitters, maybe even a little bit primitive. But I want cheap ways to make my room look artsy, and I have a lot of stuff (lol) so how should I store it? what color should i paint my room and what kind of furniture / decorations really make it look the way I want? thanks xxx
