Help with a maltese puppy?

okay so i just got a male maltese puppy yesterday and ever since it got home it wouldn't be quiet. All night and day it whimpered also the breeder said that he was pee pad trained but he always pees on the carpet and poos at the very same spot! I take him outside and he wont pee then when we come in he pees at his spot. I cleaned the carpet to get rid of the smell cause I knew that he thought it was okay to pee there but he still does it. And he loves to chew on our feet and our furniture but he never chews on his chew toys so plz help and give me some tips!
